Turkey Run 2012

Hi All

Me Again! As most of you are aware, our annual Turkey Run takes place this year on Sunday 11th December at 11am (note the earlier start time and the change in venue).

As always, we need members to help out with marshalling, cark park duties and handing out chips etc. If you are able to help then please email Grant Woodmancontracting@tiscali.co. uk or add your name to the list on a Wednesday. If you aren't sure what's involved then please ask Grant.

If you haven't helped out at a race before then it is good fun and you will be doing your bit for the club. The races are dependant on getting enough help and it would be good if this wasn't left to the same volunteers that we always seem to rely on.

And if anyone is interested, we are organising a practice run of the Turkey run route on Sunday 20th November. This will be a run for Maidstone Harriers of all abilities leaving East Malling Research (postcode ME19 6BJ) at 10am. You don't have to be running the actual race but if you are, it will give you an idea of what you've let yourself in for!

Cheers

Paula

Traviss - World Record Holder!

As some of you may be aware Traviss Wilcox has been running rather a lot of marathons over the last couple of years. 100 to be precise - in just 688 days, shattering both the previous British record of 1,142 days, and the previous World record of 849 days. The 100th race was the Robin Hood Marathon in Nottingham last Sunday. And he's not stopping there as he intends to complete as many more marathons as he possibly can before 31st December 2011.

However he will be pausing briefly this Wednesday 14th September to join us at the club to celebrate his magnificent achievement, so it would be great to see as many Harriers as possible there. We're hoping that both the KM and BBC South East Today will come along too.
