2010 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
As usual this years AGM takes place the Wednesday after the London Marathon, on 28th April, starting at 7:30pm at the Hockey Club. Please try and attend as it's your opportunity to make your voice heard and help shape the future of the club.
Message from David Hattersley - Club Chairman:
Our AGM this year takes place on Wednesday 28th April at 7.30 pm and I attach for your information a copy of the proposed agenda. If there is any other item you would wish to be included, please let me know and I will add it.
I also include a copy of the proposed constitution. You may recall that last year we introduced the proposal for a new constitution and so this year it is being included on the agenda for acceptance. Basically it is very similar to the one that is suggested by England Athletics of which our club is a member.
I have highlighted in yellow the proposed changes from the old constitution of which I have also included a copy.
If you would like to play an active role in the club organisation then please put your name forward to me or come and have a chat on Wednesday evening. You will see from the new constitution we have room for 14 members on the committee (6 Honorary and 8 other).
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
David
Message from Paula Stockton - Club Secretary:
Further to David's email about the AGM, I just want to clarify the vacant positions on the Committee. Sarah and Jo-Anne have decided to step down as Social Secretaries so we need someone to help with organising social events. Due to the amount of work involved (and also some heath issues), it has been suggested that my role as secretary be split into Club Secretary and Membership Secretary. I am happy to continue as Membership secretary if the members are OK with that. Also, I no longer wish to continue organising the Club Kit so we are looking for someone else to take over that role.
Bob Foster has decided to step down as Events Secretary but is keen to take over as Club Secretary. All positions will have to be voted on at the AGM, as usual, including Chairman and Treasurer. The committee is suggesting that we have an additional role of Vice-Chairman and is also interested in considering other new positions. We have already had a couple of members let us know that they are willing to help out but it would be great if other people want to get involved as well. It would be good to have some new and younger faces on the committee.
If you do wish to be considered for any roles then please let me or anyone else on the committee know asap. I also attach last year's AGM minutes in case you want a quick read before this year's AGM. Hopefully see most of you at the Hockey Club on Wednesday 28th April for a prompt 7.30pm start.
Many thanks
Paula

VIRGIN LONDON MARATHON 2010
***** PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COACH IS NOW FULL!!! *****
Message from Bob Foster
The coach for this year's London Marathon on 25th April has been booked. As usual we will leave the Hockey Club at 6:45am, drive to Blackheath and drop off the runners at the start, then continue on to Tower Bridge and drop off the marshals and any spectators. The return journey will leave from Duncannon Street ( just off Trafalgar Square) at 4:30 pm. The cost will be £8 for adults and under 16's £4. The should be plenty of room for everyone this year as we have hired Brookline's new 83 seater double decker luxury coach.
As previous years we will be on the course marshalling between 22 and 23 miles backing onto the Tower of London. For those of you that have not marshalled before it 's an ideal opportunity to see both the elite and rest of the field at close quarters, marshalling at London is also one of the criteria for the club draw for guranteed marathon places.
There will be a list at club on Wednesday evenings for both the coach and for marshals. If you cannot make it along to club but want to travel on the coach post your name and whether you are running, marshaling or spectating on this thread and i'll add you to the list.
