Once again the Club's annual race day was blessed with exceptionally fine weather, as the Mayor of Maidstone started the 349 entrants of in the 10k race, the main event of the day.
Earlier that morning he had also started the 2k and 4k fun runs. In the 2k Adrian Ross of Thanet Road Runners and Charlotte Edmonds were first across the line, whilst in the 4k the honours went to Jason Read of Deal Tri and Alexandra Hayman of Medway & Maidstone AC.
Geoffrey Wiseman of Thurrock Harriers was the clear winner of the men's 10k, coming home 30 seconds clear of Duncan Cochrane of Ashford AC, whilst unattached runner Sarah Winter was victorious in the ladies race, followed in 2nd place by Sharon Hawkins of Maidstone Harriers. The Harriers took the honours in the mens team competition, with Bexley AC winning the ladies team event. All the category winners are listed below.
A big thank you must go to Grant Woodman and all the race committee, along with everyone else hwo helped make this such a succesful event, which has hopefully rasied a substantial amount of cash for the BBC Children in Need appeal.
The next Harriers running event is the Ditton Turkey Run on 14th December. An entry form will be available on the site soon.
