Terry Stephens

I joined Maidstone Harriers at the end of 2013, when I moved back to Maidstone after living in Surrey for 10 years. I wanted to improve my fitness and meet new people and after running the Maidstone Half, I got talking to some Harriers and thought, what the hell……

Joining me as a newbie on my first club run was Amanda Reid. We chatted loads whilst running at the back of the pack and we are still running together today. Over the years she got quicker and of course she changed her surname to Stephens.

We decided (still not sure why) to do a marathon and at 45 we took on our first marathon together –Steyning Stinger 2018. I was last but was now a marathon runner. At the end of the year we took on Loch Ness and I wasn’t last…

I only run for medals and have even won the Veteran B team Champion, 10 Mile and Half Marathon title. My favourite runs are muddy wet trial runs like Brutal and Hellrunner, as well as Canicross.

I feel so proud to line up with so many Harrier friends at races. In many cases I am #LastHarrierHome, but I cross the line as a Maidstone Harrier with the support of my Harrier family.
